Little Is Much When God Is In It

Suffield was a talented musician and singer. After marrying Fred Suffield, she and her husband were traveling evangelists, and some times worked with George Beverly Shea.
This hymn goes out specially to Neal from North Mississippi.
Lyrics and Music: Kittie L. Suffield
In the harvest field now ripened
There’s a work for all to do;
Hark! the voice of God is calling
To the harvest calling you.
Refrain:
Little is much when God is in it!
Labor not for wealth or fame.
There’s a crown—and you can win it,
If you go in Jesus’ Name.
In the mad rush of the broad way,
In the hurry and the strife,
Tell of Jesus’ love and mercy,
Give to them the Word of Life.
Does the place you’re called to labor
Seem too small and little known?
It is great if God is in it,
And He’ll not forget His own.
Are you laid aside from service,
Body worn from toil and care?
You can still be in the battle,
In the sacred place of prayer.
When the conflict here is ended
And our race on earth is run,
He will say, if we are faithful,
“Welcome home, My child—well done!”

Christopher, thank you for posting the words to this song. I think this was first published in about 1905. I will soon have my computer “online”, and will be able to verify the publication date. The words to this song are very meaningful. Thanks!

Christopher, my 4 year search for a piano rendention of this song to sing to is over. I have gotten copies from other downloads, store-brought tracks, and requested other musicians to cut the track. None of those met the need. Your rendention is exactly what I was looking for. I am already spreading the word of your web site and the great music on it. Thanks. In HIS Name! Neal

    Thanks for the compliments.
It’s quite amazing what we can do with the technology that exists today.

    Soli Deo Gloria

    Chris

    Chris,

You ever record any (what we call in this part of the world) Southern Gosple or Bluegrass type hymns?

    Neal

  5. Neal says:

    Chris,

I produced a music video, using your rendention of this song and it will be used as a special music offering this coming Sunday in our church. Thanks for you work. Neal

I have used the phrase ‘A Little is Much if God is in it” and felt there must be a song with the same title. My choir director found it for me and I will use it in a program for our United Methodist Women-subject prayer and self-denial.
Are these words also in the bible?
    thanks for your response
