There is nothing more important, and certainly nothing more precious than knowing the Lord Jesus personally and knowing His presence.
Our following Jesus through the narrow gate and on the narrow path can be very difficult and painful at times, but we are gauranteed the presence of Christ on the narrow path, nothing is more precious in this world than that.
When I was reading the information on the background of this hymn,I was wondering if he would probably use the time in the darkroom to be alone in communion with the Lord, and being filled with the joy and love of the Holy Spirit felt compelled to try and capture on paper what glories his soul was experiencing.
I really appreciate this hymn,it’s probably my favorite.
Holy Spirit inspired music takes one straight to Heaven
My mother was born in 1918 and she sang this wonderful old song, written back in 1911, her whole life. Today she is with her Lord Jesus in Heaven, but I can still remember her singing this encouraging song as she worked, the words ringing out in her clear sweet tones.
God gave me a cottage in the country to rent. It is in the mountains, with lovely views, early morning sun on Patio. Soon after moving in, I sat out on that patio, glorying in my new surroundings of such beauty and peace, and the chorus, Dwelling in Beulah Land came to mind. My mouth filled with gratitude at what He has done for me, and I sang at the top of my voice. As I finished, I felt the Lord was saying, “This is Beulah Land!” When my landlady,( a friend, but not yet a Christian), heard this story, she promptly said she would name this acreage property Beulah Land. Another friend was here at the time, and enthusiastically asked her permission to make a sign to go over the entrance gate to the property. She heartily agreed, and within a short time, the sign was in place “Beulah Land.” God is so faithful. So I AM-” DWELLING IN BEULAH LAND,” literally, and all I did was sing the song and tell what happened, and HE did the rest. He really is so faithful, and meets my every need!
He is true toHis word, and I DO live in Beulah Land
