Constantly Abiding

Anne’s husband Will ran a pottery business in Ohio. However, she was widowed around 1929, and, having lost her wealth, moved to Burbank, California to live with her sister.

This hymn goes out by special request to Leon. Remember Heb 13:5, where God says “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee”.

Lyrics and Music: Anne S. Murphy

There’s a peace in my heart that the world never gave,
A peace it cannot take away;
Though the trials of life may surround like a cloud,
I’ve a peace that has come here to stay!

Refrain:
Constantly abiding, Jesus is mine;
Constantly abiding, rapture divine;
He never leaves me lonely, whispers, O so kind:
“I will never leave thee,” Jesus is mine.

All the world seemed to sing of a Savior and King,
When peace sweetly came to my heart;
Troubles all fled away and my night turned to day,
Blessèd Jesus, how glorious Thou art!

This treasure I have in a temple of clay,
While here on His footstool I roam;
But He’s coming to take me some glorious day,
Over there to my heavenly home!

    Thank you for providing the good music. I am using it in my broadcasting program for the Chinese Christian web sites and broadcasting center. This is a program to preserve and to teach the Chinese Christians our heritage in hymns and Gospel songs.

  2. Thank you for the site. There’s nothing more soothing in all the world than one of our great Hymns giving glory to God and acknowledging Christ as Lord and Savior. It seems our churches have substituted contemporary music instead of hymns, this is truly a mistake of this present world. Hymns are God honoring! Amen? God bless you again, this is vey appreciated.

    Thank you for providing piano music at your site. This is so good that we can self-learn to sing and praise Him with His valuable hymns under guided by your wonderful piano playing, may God continue blessing you and your gifts. Glory to be His name.

    Oh my, how pleased I am to get the music of this beautiful hymn that I have loved all of my life and when I am troubled, it comes to mind. God bless you! I was born in Oct 1929, so you can realize that I am no young chick? I live in a nursing home but am blessed to have my own pc.
    This site has certainly made my day.

    This is the only hymn that has stayed with me even when I could not hold on to any other ray of hope!
